Account and Security

Manage your profile, password, email addresses, sign-in methods, sessions, signature and director profile, or delete your account.

Your account belongs to you, not to any one organisation. Your profile, security settings, signature and director profile are the same whichever organisation you're working in. Open them from your account menu in the sidebar by selecting Profile settings.

Your account has these tabs: Profile, Security, Notifications, Signature and Director profile.

Update your profile

  1. Open the Profile tab.
  2. Change your Name, or select Choose image to add an Avatar (PNG, JPG or GIF, up to 2 MB).
  3. Select Save changes.

On the same tab you can:

  • Choose a Language. This sets how Future Boards is spelled for you, such as English (Australia) or English (United States).
  • Choose your Time zone. Times in your email notifications use it.
  • Under Linked Accounts, link a Google or Microsoft account so you can sign in with it.

To change your email address, use the Security tab.

Change your password

  1. Open the Security tab.
  2. Under Password, enter your Current password, a New password and Confirm new password.
  3. Choose whether to Sign out everywhere else.
  4. Select Change password.

Forgotten your password? Select Forgot password? on the sign-in page.

Manage your email addresses

You can add more than one verified email address, so you can accept invitations sent to any of them.

  1. On the Security tab, under Email addresses, select Add email.
  2. Enter the address and select to send the verification link.
  3. Open the link we email you to confirm the address.

To change the address you sign in with, select Make primary next to another verified address, or use Change primary email. Your primary email stays the same until you click the link we send to the new address.

Manage sign-in methods and sessions

  • Linked accounts shows the ways you can sign in, such as email and password, Google or Microsoft. Select Unlink to remove one. You always need at least one sign-in method.
  • Active sessions shows the devices signed in to your account. Select Sign out next to a device, or Sign out all other sessions.

Confirm it's you

Some organisations ask you to confirm your identity before you vote, record votes, finalise minutes or sign a document. When this is on, a Confirm it's you window appears for those actions. If you have a passkey, you confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, a fingerprint or a security key. If you don't, we email you a 6-digit code.

To add a passkey:

  1. On the Security tab, under Passkeys, enter a Passkey name, such as *Work laptop*.
  2. Select Add passkey and follow your device's prompts.

Passkeys don't replace your password for signing in. This feature is turned on per organisation. If you don't see it, contact Future Boards support.

Set your signature and initials

  1. Open the Signature tab.
  2. Select Adopt your signature.
  3. Draw, type or upload an image of your signature. If you upload a photo of a paper signature, the background is removed and the image is cropped to the ink.
  4. Select Save signature.

Set your initials the same way and select Save initials. Future Boards reuses them every time you sign. See E-signatures.

Build your director profile

The Director profile tab lets you build a public profile of your board experience, qualifications and specialisms, with a web address of your choice. You can choose to Join the directors directory, and deactivate your profile at any time.

Delete your account

  1. On the Security tab, under Danger zone, select Delete account.
  2. Type your email address to confirm, then select Send confirmation email.
  3. Open the link we email you to finish.

Your personal details and sign-ins are removed. Board records such as minutes, votes and signed documents stay with your organisation, shown as "Deleted user".

You can't delete your account while you're the only owner of an organisation or while you pay for its subscription. Make another member an owner, or cancel the subscription, first.

If you can't sign in, use the Delete your account link at the foot of our website to request deletion by email.
