Inbox & notifications
Inbox and Notifications
See recent activity across your spaces, act on what needs you, and choose how you're notified by email, in the app and on your phone.
Future Boards keeps you up to date in two places. Notifications shows recent activity across your spaces, such as a meeting invitation or a new vote. The Inbox, where it's turned on, is a short, ranked list of what needs your judgement, most urgent first.
Check your notifications
- Select the bell in the top bar to open Notifications. It shows recent activity across your spaces.
- Select a notification to go straight to the meeting, minutes, poll, circular or space it's about. Action item notifications open your action items.
- Select Mark all read to clear your unread count.
- Select View all to open the full Notifications page.
When there's nothing new, you'll see "You're all caught up".
Use your Inbox
The Inbox gathers the things waiting on you and says why each one is there. Select Inbox in the sidebar to open it. Items are grouped into Needs you now, Before your next meeting and When you have a moment.
Items can include:
- decisions and circular resolutions waiting on your vote
- documents and minutes waiting for your signature
- meetings waiting for your RSVP
- minutes to review
- overdue action items
Each row links to the place where you act on it, and shows when it's due, for example when a circular closes or a signature request expires. When the list is empty, you'll see "Nothing needs your judgement right now".
The Inbox is turned on per organisation. If you don't see it, contact Future Boards support.
Choose what you're notified about
Notifications are grouped into categories: Meetings, Decisions, Circular resolutions, Action items, Minutes, Mentions, Comments, Membership, Signed documents and Billing. Billing notifications go to organisation owners and admins only.
For each category you can turn on or off:
- In-app, shown in Notifications
- Mobile push, for categories the mobile app can alert you about
Some categories are in-app only and don't show an email switch.
Set preferences at each level
You can set preferences at three levels. The most specific setting wins.
- Your account: open the Account menu, select Profile settings, then Notifications. These defaults apply across all your organisations.
- An organisation: go to Settings, then Notifications, and select Customise for this organisation to override your account defaults.
- A space: in the space, select Manage Space, then Notifications, and select Customise for this space to override your organisation's settings. This is useful for muting a busy space.
A category you've customised shows a Custom badge. Use Reset to inherited to go back to the next level up.
Critical security and account messages are always delivered, whatever your settings.
Emails you'll receive
Depending on your settings, Future Boards emails you about things like meeting invitations and reminders, published or updated board papers, circular resolutions, signature requests and finalised minutes. Times in emails show in your own time zone, with your organisation's time alongside when it's different. Links in these emails open the right page in Future Boards.
