AI Assistant and MCP

Use AI inside Future Boards for summaries, drafting and tag suggestions, and connect your own assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to read your board work.

Future Boards uses AI in two ways. AI is built into the places you already work, such as the board pack and the agenda and minutes editors. You can also connect your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, so it can answer questions about your board work with links back to the source.

Summarise a board pack

Once papers are published, you can generate a private summary of the board pack. Only you can see it.

  1. Open the meeting and select Summary in the meeting header.
  2. Under Preset, choose a focus, or No preset (use my prompt).
  3. Optionally add your own instructions under Prompt (optional).
  4. Select Generate summary.

If the pack changes later, select Regenerate summary to refresh it.

Get tag suggestions for a meeting

In the board pack, the tag editor suggests tags for your meeting. Select a suggestion to apply it in one tap.

Draft with AI in the editor

The agenda item, minutes and circular editors include an inline AI prompt.

  1. Place your cursor on an empty line and press the Space bar to open the AI prompt.
  2. Describe what you want written, then send it.
  3. Review the result. Select Accept to keep a block, Regenerate to try again, or Discard to remove it. Use Accept all or Discard all to act on everything at once.

Nothing AI writes is added to your document until you accept it.

Summarise an attachment into an agenda item

On an agenda item, find the attached document on the attachment shelf and select Summarise into agenda. The AI prompt opens with that document attached and a suggested prompt. It drafts agenda sections, key points and a table of key figures for you to review before anything is added.

Connect your own AI assistant

You can connect an assistant that supports MCP connectors, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to Future Boards. It can read meetings, agendas, board papers, decisions and your actions, but only what you can already see. It can't change, send or approve anything, and every request it makes is recorded in your organisation's audit log.

This feature is turned on per organisation. If you don't see AI assistants in your account settings, contact Future Boards support.

Connect an assistant

  1. Open your account menu, go to your account settings and select the AI assistants tab.
  2. Under Connect an assistant, copy the Connector address.
  3. In your assistant, add Future Boards as a connector using that address.
  4. When asked, sign in to Future Boards. Review what the assistant can do and select Connect.

Use an access token instead

Some assistants can't sign in. For these, create an access token.

  1. On the AI assistants tab, under Access token, enter an Assistant name.
  2. Select Create token.
  3. Copy the token straight away. It is shown only once and expires after 90 days.

Revoke an assistant

Under Connected assistants, select Revoke next to the assistant and confirm. It stops working straight away, and you can connect it again later.

Approve what your assistant proposes

Your organisation can also let your assistant suggest a question to management, a correction to minutes or a paper acknowledgement. These appear under Proposed by your assistant on the AI assistants tab. Nothing happens until you select Approve, and it then runs as you. Select Reject to turn it down.

Your assistant can never vote, approve minutes, sign or declare an interest. You do those in Future Boards.

AI chat history

The AI chat panel has been retired. If you used it, your past conversations are saved under the AI chat history tab in your account settings, where you can read them and select Download as Markdown.

AI credits

AI features use AI credits that come with your plan, so what you can use may depend on your plan. Owners and admins can see the remaining balance on the Usage this period card in billing settings and buy more credits there. See Admin & settings.
